Category and type of visa

Categories

There are three categories of visa - diplomatic, service and ordinary.

Types

There are two types of visa - entrance and transit visa granted to the foreigners and stateless persons as it is described below:

1. Entrance visa - this kind of visa is valid from three days up to one month.

- Single entry visa - allows entering and exiting the country only one time during its validity period.

- Multiple entry visa - this kind of visa is valid up to 2 years. This visa allows the multiple entrance-exit to the country during the appropriate period. In order to obtain this kind of visa, the letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required. 

If visa is not used during the period it is given for it expires. The application form has to be filled in either by hand writing or typing (capital letters only). Correct answers on multiple choice questions should be circled only (do not strike or underline). Improperly filled application forms will be returned without processing.

2. Transit visa.

Single or multiple transit visas – are granted to foreigners and stateless persons traveling to the third countries via the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Transit visa allows person to stay in the Republic of Azerbaijan maximum for 5 days.

The visa procedure takes up to 15 (fifteen) days after submission all necessary documents. All documents must be submitted to the Consular section in person. The Consular Section reserves the right to require additional documents that it deems necessary for visa processing and to hold interview with applicants.

Attention: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan would like to remind that the visa request of applicants who has travelled or will travel to the Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan without prior permission of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be denied. Note: The documents are not accepted by mail.

 

Following documents must be submitted:

Official visa

1. Properly filled application form; 

2. Two colored photos (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, white background);

3. Passport or other travel document (a validity period of passport or other travel document should exceed a validity period of an expected visa at least for 3 months); 

4. The copy of passport or other travel document;

5. Note verbal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands;

Note: Holders of diplomatic passport of EU member states which are part of Schengen area can travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan without visa. The maximum stay is no more than 90 days per period of 180 days.

 

Business visa

1. Properly filled application form; 

2. Two colored photos (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, white background);

3. Passport or other travel document (a validity period of a passport or other travel document should exceed a validity period of an expected visa at least for 3 months);

4. The copy of passport or other travel document;

5. Invitation letter from a business partner in Azerbaijan. Invitation form should be endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan;

6. The Certificate of Registration of the inviting company (organization) under the Ministry of Justice or Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan; 

7. Letter of Guarantee from the employer of the applicant; 

8. Receipt about visa fee payment (for more information about visa fee see   below). The amount must be transferred to the bank account of the Consular Section of the Embassy (NL38ABNA0403491843) before submission of the documents. If amount is transferred via internet banking, the screen shot must be printed out and submitted to the Consular Section along with other documents. 

 

Private visa

1. Properly filled application form;

2. Two colored photos (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, white background);

3. Passport or other travel document (a validity period of a passport or other travel document should exceed a validity period of an expected visa at least for 3 months);

4. The copy of passport or other travel document;

5. Invitation letter from a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan or a foreigner legally residing in Azerbaijan. ATTENTION: Invitation letter should be notarized;

6. The copy of the both sides of a valid identity card (ID) or a card of residence permits of an inviting person;

7. Receipt about visa fee payment (for more information about visa fee see "visa fee" below). The amount must be transferred to the bank account of the Consular Section of the Embassy (NL38ABNA0403491843) before submission of the documents. If amount is transferred via internet banking, the screen shot must be printed out and submitted to the Consular Section along with other documents. 

 

VISA FEES

The visa fee for passport holders of EU member states which are part of Schengen area is:

Single and Multiple entries: 35 Euro

For travel document holders (Reisdocument) is:

Single entry: 20 US Dollar

Multiple entries: 350 US Dollar

Attention: Children under the age of 12 who hold the passport of EU member state which is part of Schengen area are exempted from visa fee.

Attention: The visa fees are subject to change according to daily information on currency exchange rates and must be round.

Note: Persons planning to stay in the districts of Republic of Azerbaijan for more than 15 (fifteen) days must be registered at the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
